Participants will learn to produce meze spreads, attend a hands-on falafel session, refine mid-morning meals such as shakshuka, and make substantial main courses like spicy mushroom ragu and moussaka. There are trips to the local market and a local vineyard to taste local vintages, plus leisure time for strolls by the nearby river, to unwind on the deck or take a dip in the infinity pool. Street Dance in High Wycombe

This energetic camp is an energizing, welcoming weekend adults’ street dance camp in High Wycombe. The format each day is a high-energy group warmup, followed by several 90-minute workshops covering various street dance styles, then an 60-minute jam to demonstrate those solos. Participants are split into groups based on skill level, so it is suitable for those who are brand new to popping and locking, right up to experienced performers or instructors. Maritime Singing Break in St Ives

This coastal town is the perfect spot for a sea shanty weekend. Participants will learn traditional shanties from a folk singer and vocal coach, and have a go at composing original ones. The schedule includes vocal warmups, breath control techniques, stagecraft advice and a final evening concert. The retreat is held in a rural hotel overlooking St Ives Bay. Full board are included, such as a Cornish cream tea on arrival, breakfast options, packed lunches and three-course dinners. Grog, alas, is not included. Writing in Crete

Writer and tutor Greg Mosse runs the daily workshops on this authors' getaway. He covers everything from plot, character development, setting and tension, to sending manuscripts to agents. A co-host, the bestselling author Kate Mosse, will participate in events at the start and finish of the week. The retreat is held at a traditional complex in Vamos at the base of the Lefka Ori – 10 one- and two-bedroom cottages surround a central garden with a pool (non-writing partners are welcome to come along). Beginners' Beekeeping in Mid Wales

The Centre for Alternative Technology near Machynlleth runs a host of courses covering sustainability: from wildlife gardening to upcycling. This weekend course will help attendees get to grips with the fundamentals of apiary management, study the biology of honeybees and discover their ecological importance. It is designed to produce “bee-friendly beekeepers”. The weekend is also a chance to relax in the centre's sustainably managed forests, which are home to wildlife, otters, dormice, lesser horseshoe bats and uncommon bird species. Accommodation the night before is £80, and all meals and lodging for the weekend is £97.

These new weekend sailing courses are spent on Wayfarers and Dufours on the Blackwater estuary. They are aimed at novice sailors starting out or those with some knowledge who want a refresher. There are non-residential and residential options, with accommodation in basic shared rooms in the waterside training centre.
